Branko – Fruilano Collio DOC
Genuinely Friulian, by history, lineage and emotional resonance, the Friulano grape keeps its pledge to deliver a generous, warm drinking experience to which time adds personality and new dimensions of sensory gratification. The instantly recognisable array of bitter almondsedged aromatics frames an outstandingly fresh-tasting palate, the result of maturation in stainless steel subtly enhanced by a small proportion of wine conditioned in 400-litre oak casks.

Branko – Pinot Grigio Collio DOC
Like many other varieties, Pinot Grigio was imported from France. The grape achieves excellence here and owes Collio much of its fame. This fruit-forward, characterful wine melds very special aromas from fermentation and partial maturation in oak, its initial swagger giving way to more harmonious perceptions that thrill the senses. Sun-dried hay and walnut skin aromas accompany nectarines and confectioner's cream, comparisons that spring instinctively, and very clearly, to mind. The warm, plush mouthfeel with its discreet acidity and pleasing sensation of elegant fullness derives from the fact that at least ten per cent of the wine is conditioned in mid-sized oak casks.

Catan Pisco
Woman owned, Chicago owned!
The fruit forward and citrus aromas capture the organic purities of the hand-picked Pedro Ximénez Grapes, and the meticulous double distillation process yields the smoothing progression as was intended by the copper stills. The traditional Chilean flavors are then distinguished towards the finish, as the stone characteristics are noted which derive from the natural irrigation produced by that rainfall that is gifted from the Andes to the vines.

Chasing Harvest Central Otago Riesling
Sourced from a single vineyard located in the heart of the Bannockburn sub-region of Central Otago. Hand harvested and ripe clusters were sorted in the winery, de-stemmed and crushed the fruit was left to macerate on the skins overnight. Gently pressed the next day and after cold-settling, the wine was racked to very old neutral french oak barrels. Fermented long and cool, the wine was left with a very minimal amount of residual sugar to balance with the acidity. The wine remained on it’s lees over the course of the winter before being bottled in the spring.

Chateau D’Arlay Vin de Liquer Macvin, Blanc (375mL)
(Available in 375mL)
One of the most unusual wine estates in France is Chateau d'Arlay, an historic property that was acquired by the Laguiche family in 1960. They own 74 acres in the Cotes du Jura (a largely forgotten appellation) planted with everything from Pinot Noir to such indigenous grapes as Trusseau [sic], Poulsard and Savagnin as well as the more common Chardonnay. The wines are often released very late, and one of their specialties is their Vin Jaune, a sensational wine that makes a great accompaniment with foie gras. However, that cuvee is too expensive to include in this report. A white wine blended with liqueur, usually made from equal parts Chardonnay and Savagnin mixed with brandy. A powerhouse with 17% alcohol, it is aged for seven years in cask before being released.
