Sicilian Gold – Nerello Mascalese Terre Sicilian IGT
Sicilian Gold – Nerello Mascalese Terre Sicilian IGT
Nerello Mascalese is a dark-skinned varietal most common on the volcanic slopes of Mt. Etna.  Recent DNA tests confirm it is an offspring of Sangiovese and remains the bulk of Etna wines easily surpassing its blending partner, Nerello Cappuccio.  These wines are fresh with excellent minerality and complex flavors.  Many Mascalese wines have a perfume similar to Barolo and Burgundy.  Recent popularity is due to winemakers creating a light body wine reminiscent of Pinot Noir.  Some vines predate the phylloxera epidemic of 1880's.

Terre di Melazzano – Sofie IGT Toscana
Terre di Melazzano – Sofie IGT Toscana
Sofie is our favorite.  We call her the "baby" Super Tuscan.  Only two varietals are needed to showcase the true beauty of Chianti country.  The serving temperature of this wine has an enormous impact on the flavor.  Served cold, as the label states, blends the two varietals perfectly to create a wine that empties the bottle before you realize it.  As the wine warms to room temperature, the silky and blodied tones of the Merlot shine.  The result is so easy to drink that it can be served as an aperitif, a dinner win, or a post-dinner sunset sipper.
  • Varietal: 50% Sangiovese, 50% Merlot
  • Alcohol Content: 14%
  • Country Hierarchy: Greve in Chianti, Tuscany, Italy

Terre di Melazzano – Riscoperto Chianti Classico DOCG
Terre di Melazzano – Riscoperto Chianti Classico DOCG
The desire to innovate, by searching only within tradition, has led to conceiving a wine produced entirely naturally without the addition of any chemical additives. The challenge is to revive the wine product which results solely from the pressing of grapes (grown organically), and by a succession of ancestral wine-making processes without the addition of synthetic additives which, if on the one hand facilitate these processes, alter the more regular cycles and behavior of nature. Thus the first Chianti Classico without sulfites was born. Derived from 100% Sangiovese grapes, requiring special attention to hygiene in the fermentation stage and a systematic and assiduous attention during the most sensitive stages of refinement.
  • Varietal: 100% Sangiovese
  • Alcohol Content: 13%
  • Country Hierarchy: Greve in Chianti, Tuscany, Italy
